What it means for your world
Dappled Forest and abandoned camps join the Overworld
Abandoned camps can generate in 18 biomes, with loot maps pointing to other sites.
See the related reference →Wool and concrete gain stairs and slabs in every color
Builders get 64 craftable shapes without substituting a different material or hiding full blocks behind trim.
See the related reference →Poplar arrives as a complete wood family
Logs, planks, boats, signs, shelves, doors, fences, stairs, and slabs open a warm new building palette.
See the related reference →v1.26.50.4 delivers the autumn update hinted at in the previous release. The Dappled Forest brings orange foliage and a new poplar wood family, abandoned camps give explorers another reason to leave the path, and builders get wool and concrete stairs and slabs.
The Dappled Forest
The Dappled Forest is a temperate Overworld biome with orange grass and foliage, patches of coarse dirt, and cold-climate farm animals. Its colors are the point: red, orange, and yellow poplar leaves turn the canopy into a permanent autumn build.
Poplar comes with the full wood set. Logs convert into poplar planks, then into boats, doors, fences, signs, shelves, stairs, slabs, and the usual redstone pieces. The three leaf colors can also be smelted into leaf litter.
Shelf mushrooms grow on walls in two stages. The mature form drops two mushrooms, bounces anything that lands on it, and halves fall damage. Shelf mushrooms count toward mushroom stew and have their own rabbit stew recipe. Wandering traders can offer three for one emerald, alongside eight poplar logs for one emerald or a sapling for five.
Abandoned Camps Point to More Camps
Eighteen biomes now carry the abandoned-camp structure tag. The list ranges from the Dappled Forest and ordinary forests to bamboo jungles, cherry groves, meadows, savannas, swamps, taigas, and the Pale Garden.
Camp barrels stick to travel supplies such as bread, coal, arrows, leather, bundles, and fishing rods. Common chests step up to copper tools and armor, then include a map to a camp in a different biome. Secret chests can hold diamonds, healing or movement potions, metal ingots, iron equipment, and a map to another major structure. The maps can point to another camp or one of seven major structures.
Wool and Concrete Finally Bend
Every one of Minecraft’s 16 colors gets wool stairs, wool slabs, concrete stairs, and concrete slabs. That’s 64 craftable blocks. The recipes use the familiar stair and slab patterns, while concrete also gets stonecutter conversions.
The new red wool stairs and red concrete stairs are representative of the whole set. The useful part is consistency: a colored floor, stage, couch, or roof no longer needs a close-enough material whenever its shape changes.
Cushions and Straw Beds
Cushions turn the wool slabs into seating. Three matching slabs make one of 16 colored cushions, and the entity has a real sit interaction with a centered dismount position. Cushions are still marked experimental in this release.
The straw bed is the camp’s other new furnishing. Three hay bales make four beds, a generous recipe for anyone building a tent row or rough bunkhouse.
